if you've never used one they do provide some protection from common crap like splattered bug guts (LOVE BUGS) and down in Florida that's a big plus during that part of the year and they provide some protection from minor stone/gravel chip damage from driving dirt roads but its been my experience that they are best not left on too long or trapped moisture tends to damage the paint

clear bras are almost invisible

removing love bug guts

having a good thick wax job before you go driving during love bug seasons a very good idea

READ THIS CAREFULLY

spraying the cars paint with PAM cooking oil ,is not quite as effective but it helps

and the glass with RAINX
http://www.rainx.com/
helps prevent the guts from sticking

warm water a sponge and soapy water with dawn dish washing liquid, and some degrease solvent will remove most of the bug guts if you do the job each night, let the guts sit for days and you can permanently damage car paint
A Mr Clean magic eraser sponge makes removing the bugs, an easy job.

instructions
Things You'll Need:

* About five dryer sheets
* A bucket with soap/water mixture

1.
Step 1

This procedure is best used while washing your auto, so have your hose, bucket, soap and sponge handy with the dryer sheets.
2.
Step 2

Spray the area where you wish to start. Wash as normal.
3.
Step 3

Rinse the area and look for any love bug residue. Dip a dryer sheet in your bucket.
4.
Step 4

Use the dryer sheet the same way as your sponge, you'll notice the guts washing away. The film is the fabric softener which "unlocks" the guts, while the mild abrasive from the dryer sheet does all the grunt work.
5.
Step 5

TA-DA!!! No more love bugs. Repeat for the rest of your auto. Rinse and dry auto as usual.
