What is the recommended time period or miles before any carb should be rebuilt? Three years ago I stored my sb vette and right from the start I dropped the tank and flushed it, so only the carb bowl had gas in it. I really didn't put but a few miles on it since I bought it and I didn't have any issues with performance. One last note, I'm sure it was rebuilt shortly before I bought the car since it looks very clean with new hold-down bolts and washers under the bolt heads. Honestly, I wouldn't really know a perfect carb from one that simply works like it should (not sure if that sounds right or if you know what I mean).

its not mileage or time, but the QUALITY of the fuel , used, if theres and exposure to corrosion inducing conditions like storage in moist conditions that generally causes problems.
Ive had carbs run great for several decades, but lately the alcohol in the fuel is causing a good many more issues

I forgot about the fuel grade. Most like likely there is untreated regular gas from 3.5 years ago. My garage is air-conditioned and heated. I was thinking that the fuel inside the carb just evaporated out the vent tube and must be dry inside. My thoughts are - If I have to ask, then be on the safe side and rebuild anyway. (just trying to save a buck where I can but in a logical manor.
