Looking for other parts, I've come across a dart SHP block.

"This is the 400 style block with the 350 mains. The bore currently is at 4.185"
I looked it up on summit and they sell it like this...what would the purpose of this be?
How does that affect buying parts? You just buy a 350 model crankshaft?

I was just thinking about what it would cost for machine work on the 400 I bought...this thing already has splayed 4 bolts, obviously thicker walls...for less than I would pay for the machine work.
seller says it needs to only be honed before reassembly.

I don't know anything about going smaller mains though...??

ID have the local machine shop of your choice check it CAREFULLY for cracks or flaws, or bad machine work, before purchasing it "at YOUR COST" just to be sure its not some junk some guys dumping thats been improperly machined , but there usually nothing wrong with the dart blocks and the smaller main journals induce less frictional bearing losses Id use a 4340 forged steel rotating assembly with 350 main journal size crank, and not worry about it an instant if the block checks out, or put a different way, if I found one for sale and it checked out after a close inspection ID JUMP ON THE CHANCE TO BUY ONE IF I COULD AFFORD TOO! and I DON,T EVEN LIKE BUILDING SBC ENGINES COMPARED TO BIG BLOCK ENGINES!

DART BLOCKS AR THICK CASTINGS AND CAST FROM BETTER ALLOY MAKING BLOCK FAILURE FAR LESS COMMON THAN THE WEAK OEM 400 BLOCKS WEAK MAIN WEBS
