Super Stock Heads

Grumpy does a EXCELLENT job of posting examples, tech articles, photos, of cylinder head development. I like working on cylinder heads that allow you to get the proper area for the task. However, when you can't then shape become KING. Nothing shows this better than a 172cc Super Stock head. The guidelines are 172cc port, 65cc exhaust port, and 61.5cc chamber. These engines are 360 cid, peak at 7000 rpm, and make 680+hp. They have 2.00in² MIN at the pushrod and move 270cfm.

I had 50 hours in this set.

what is that material that appears to be, either, epoxy filler (intakes) or brazing (exhaust) are you using on the intake and exhaust ports/ I have not found one that stands up long term on exhaust ports, and what your using on the intakes looks like it flows and seals well.

BTW thanks for posting clear pictures

yeah, doing things correctly rarely come cheaply

How about some Data on the Cylinder Heads used on MURDER NOVA & BIG CHIEF'S CROWMOD TITANIUM BIRD ?

CHEVY BIG BLOCK & PONTIAC V8.

Grumpys & Mine Favorite GM Engines.

What Exhaust to Intake Ratio do you think they are using High Twin Turbo Boost 51 + Psi ?

Not Really Super Stock Heads of the past..Rules allowed just 3-5 angle valvejob & a Full radius valveseat.
Couldn't even gasket match .

The Pontiac Engine Heads are from Jim Butler in Tennessee . Edelbrock Castings.
Pretty sure they are the Latest Full Round Port Full Race Heads.
Not D port like other Edelbrock heads for Pontiac .
Full RA4 exhaust port used.

Murder Nova & its BBC I am not sure on his Combo used.
Both Street Race cars are very Fast.

Crowmod set the Fastest 1/8 mile ever Recent for a Doorslammer.
4.00 some seconds.
