I did a search on System 1 Oil Filters here on Your Site Grumpy.
No results. So its a New Topic.
I am interested in purchasing a Few System 1 Race / Street Oil Filters.
They Make them for A Pontiac / Olds/ AMC Engines along with Chevrolet.
These are the high end reusable Oil filters you take apart & clean the stainless steel filter media in Solvent. Blow or air dry & reassemble.
I checked out thier website a few weeks back.
Summit Racing stocks them.
Stock Pontiac & Olds V8 dimensions.
Do you have any reading material or usefull Links on System 1 oil filters.
Used K & N in the past & still do.
The ability to take apart the oil filter in just minutes to check for bearing wear & Babbit material is inviting with System 1.
Not inexpensive to purchase I know.

ive tried to use wix filters for fuel and oil everywhere i could since i first was introduced to them a few years ago... they arent carried by advance auto or autozone or pep boys so it wasnt untill i hit a kragen or an oreilly or someplace on the west coast that i found wix. i had been habitually cutting open oil filters to see what was going on in my l28 and didnt seem to be finding alot of debris in my k&n which i found odd since i had somewhere around 250-275,000 miles on the engine. occasionally the magnet would pick up some stuff but when i happened to use a wix i immediately saw it catching crap that just wasnt there on previous oil changes. since then ive always used them and never had an issue, summit sells them cheap and i usually get them next day here through a performance parts supplier buddy of mine.

i have seen those reuseable washable filters on the summit website but i havent ever met anyone that actually uses them so i couldnt tell you any testimonials. they cost several times as much as a regular oil filter but if you can keep for 20-30 oil changes your saving some serious dough!

When we were Dirt Track Racing local still , WIX RACE OIL FILTERS IN THE BLACK CASE IS ALL WE USED.
On a Hot Summer night that there was no rain for past2-3 weeks ,
The dust is increadable.
WIX Did thier job very well.
I like K& N also for the extra thick steel shell.
Makes it strong with a high burst strength.
I have had Fram Street oil filters blow up in the past running 80- 100 psi. oil pressure through them. Ford 5.0 guys run up to 100-130 psi also
I think I am going to try a System 1.

the idea of a sturdy stainless screen based oil and fuel filter thats got a machined case, is easily cleaned or has a easily replaceable filter element has merit, and obviously if correctly designed its going to have a significant strength and structural advantage over the thin stamped steel production versions with flimsy paper filer elements.
the only issue I see is that theres limited surface area on the screen so it will require a more frequent cleaning or maintenance schedule, obviously not an issue with a raced car, that gets frequent maintenance, but just as obviously not designed for 15,000 miles between oil filter changes

I don't listen to those Yo Yo's Grumpy.
Oil gets changed in my vehicles every 3,000 miles regardless if synthetic or convential oil used.
TA about ever 500-700 miles.
If raced, oil gets changed next morning.
