Not sure how you proceeded and likeky you did it this way, but... I bolt the brackets to the engine first. Then I lift with the hoist and slide it into the stand. Actually I hang the stand off the bracket and then lower the whole thing.

Yeah, I attached the bracket, then lifted it. Then I had to manhandle the stand up onto the engine bracket about a foot in the air because the legs wouldn't fit inside each other... the sketchy part was lowering it... I had to swing the whole thing and lower at the same time, so that the stand could get to the ground and not sit on top of the hoist legs... Got it done though..

a swivel hook on the crane and engine leveler PLUS the larger casters on the engine stand, makes the combo more versatile.
Id also point out that if you have a welder , and a source of the correct steel, you can customize or modify your engine crane base on the engine crane to allow the support legs to easily clear the engine stand
