Transmission swap

I am replacing my Turbo 350 with a 700R4 transmission and now have to shorten the driveshaft. I am looking for the most accurate way to get a correct measurement for the machine shop in order to have it shortened.

Thanks
Kevin

I've done 3 all needed 3" removed. 3" works if it's the 6" tail shaft 350. It will depend on which T-350 you have, there was more than one tail shaft length. 6", 9" and 12". The actual difference is about 2 13/16" to 2 15/16" I have no idea why some are slightly different. But the splines are plenty sufficient to cut 3" and that's what I do. ;)
