walmart and stupid clerks

I wondered thru WALMART and as I pass thru the sporting goods store area I noticed that they have recently had a supply of assorted rifle and pistol ammo, delivered, and for once the shelves are stacked full with a decent selection, which of late is rather odd and something I wish was always true as finding ammo in most popular calibers is at times difficult lately at a decent price.
well they have some 223 rem (AR 15 ammo) in remington, and tula and winchester and federal, on the shelves that I know several of my friends are looking for so I pull out the cell phone and make a few calls and most of the guys tell me to buy some and get a receipt, and they will be only to happy to reimburse me plus a bit for gas and time.
they have boxes of 20 Remington brand fmj cartridges for $7.99 and boxes of 100 cartridges for $39.95 ( same price basically) I start to grab 15 boxes of 20 cartridges and the clerk says you can,t buy that many its store policy, your limited to 3 boxes per customer, per day!
so in effect I have a choice of 60 cartridges for about $26 or 300 cartridges for about $127, but I can,t by 100 cartridges in 20 packs for $42 as that would be against the store rules??
so I put those back and grab three of the larger 100 cartridge packs(same 300 cartridges total) and this clerk says that will be fine as its only three packs ........DUH!
so after I buy those and bring them over to a friends house and get reimbursed I figure Ill stop by a second walmart on the way home to see if they have ammo for a second friend?
I get to this walmart and they only have the 100 packs, but they have dozens of them, I ask the clerk in this store if theres a limit per day on purchase amounts and he says, the limits only based on what cash you have to trade for it.
yes I know exactly why the WALMART has a 3 pack per day limit per customer, its to keep a single guy from buying the entire supply of ammo in the area, at walmarts cheaper prices and marking it up and reselling it at some mom & pop gun-store for exorbitant prices but I don,t think a bit of logic applied here would hurt. if they would let you buy 300 cartridges in larger size packs I doubt selling the same amount of cartridges in smaller packs would cause the world economy to collapse, or the sky to fall.
my son says they had the same silly rule on 40 cal, pistol ammo, they would sell you (3) 250 cartridge value packs or (3) 50 cartridge packs but not (4) 50 cartridge boxes
