"Hey Grumpy?
I need a cam recommendation for a smooth idle (slight lope, maybe?) 598 BBC with dart pro1 345 heads . I'd like to keep it under 6500 rpm, this is for a four speed 67 chevelle street car w 3:55 gears, driveability is important, I don't want to be rattled to death(think fairly smooth), and lower maintenance (hydraulic roller, probably). I have a howards cam 120665-12 (not sure if this will work, but probably?). Cam specs for this are .640 lift 243/249 dur at .050 112 lsa ,Engine is 10:1 compression. Any suggestions are completely welcome."

I don,t know what carb or intake your running .but that HOWARD CAM,is not a big cam in that engine displacement ,especially if thats a dual plane intake, that keeps port speeds fairly high even with a 345cc port, Id bet your going to find its not going to be that radical , or lope all that much on the street and I think youll find power noses over at about 4500rpm with that small of a cam in that size engine

Id bet your torque curve looks vaguely similar too this dd2000 sim

obviously you could install a larger cam and make more peak hp but that seems counter productive to the stated goals

123505-12 .680 / .680 LIFT 247 / 255 DUR @ .050 ON A 112 LSA, INSTALLED RETARDED 4 DEGREES TO THE STRAIT UP SPLIT LOCATION SEEMS TO FIT A BIT BETTER
