ok youve got some mid 60s to low 80s 350 4 barrel V8 like a 275-300hp 350 sbc, with a 4 speed transmission and 3.36-3.73 rear gears and its fun to drive in that old nova , chevelle,or camaro, but it sounds pretty pathetic, your thinking of adding headers, and a low restriction exhaust too the car, thinking its going to change to a much more aggressive sound!...
...you want that muscle car rumble in the exhaust, but your not rich
well, no exhaust or mufflers is going to give you the sound you want, because the engine itself won,t currently produce the exhaust pulse frequency and pressure that generates that sound or anything close to it,
add a 3" low restriction exhaust and those low restriction mufflers and a decent cam and you'll be MUCH closer to your goal.
your running a low cpr in that 350, but still have no problems with the stock drive train

want to boost hp and get a rumble???

your limited in choices due to clearance issues with the stock valve train, but your not screwed if you'll tolerate a lopey idle and a loss of low rpm tq ,and since you've got a mid 3 series rear gear and a manual transmission, you can, install this cam, and some RHODES LIFTERS, you'll trade some low rpm tq for noticeably more upper mid range power, it will sound almost like a solid lifter cam, and produce a nice power curve, in that 9:1 -10:1 cpr smogger 350

MUCH BETTER THAN STOCK POWER, BUT STILL REASONABLY
MILD, well mild enough that its still street drivable with no problem if you've got a 3.73:1-4.11:1 rear gear, manual transmission or a 2700rpm-3000rpm stall converter, but certainly not well matched to the stock converter and 2.87-3.07:1 rear gear ratio

NOTICEABLY WILDER BUT STILL DRIVABLE AND USABLE IN A DAILY DRIVER, IF CORRECTLY MATCHED TO THE RIGHT DRIVE TRAIN COMPONENTs

now naturally youll need to research the exact headers and exhaust for your application but heres some examples

BTW if youve got a street/strip BBC in the 454-496 displacement range that youve set up with better valve springs (.575-.600 lift clearance for flat tappet cams) with a 10:1-10.5:1 cpr ,something like this cam

http://www.lunaticamshafts.com/Product. ... 52&gid=287

makes a nice combo IF its matched to a 3.73:1-4.11:1 rear gear, a manual transmission or 3000rpm stall converter and decent headers and a dual plane intake

just a really nicely set up clean looking engine compartment (engine porn) not the same car but I thought you might like it
