" GRUMPY ?.Ive never messed with camshafts but i am going to try it out. the question is what is everything i need to know before choosing what camshaft i need and any suggested brands/styles of them? i hear roller cams are better then flat tappet even though the price is a little more. if someone can just fill me in on this and maybe some extra knowledge to know about camshafts! thanks."

If you want to learn a good deal read thru these threads first then ask questions , it might take you a couple hours reading but youll be far ahead of the average guy once you understand the concepts
your sure to have a few questions so don,t feel like your alone, it takes awhile to fully grasp some concepts, but read thru the links and sub links.
keep in mind the cam controls the valve opening and closing and nothing gets compressed by the piston until both valves are seated.
also keep in mind even at idle speed valves in each cylinder open and close 5-8 times PER SECOND
