Who is running a 6L80e with their LS swap?
I want to keep the 6L80, but everyone keeps trying to tell me to just go with a 4L60.
I want to keep the 6L80 because (a) I already own it, (b) its what was originally with the LS3 I got and the computer, etc, (c) 6 speeds seems cool.
So who has done it? Im using the CIC motor mounts if it maters.

heres my take!
yes the 6L80E will take noticeably more work to install, and its larger and heavier and more expensive to install, making it more difficult , BUT...once its installed you've got a noticeably stronger transmission with a couple more gears, and since Ive shredded a few 700r4 and 4l60 transmission in the past, behind big block engines,Id certainly prefer that 6l80E if it was my car..
it comes down to a question of if you want to compromise and slap something together just to get the car up and running fairly soon,
or are you more concerned with,
having something rather unique and, more durable/ stronger with a couple extra gear ranges, you can be proud of owning , that will take longer and cost more to accomplish?
The 6L80E is an automatic transmission designed for longitudunal engine configurations. This transmission will work with GEN IV LS3/LS7 & Vortec Engines. The 6L80E has 6 forward gears and a reverse. The transmission consists primarily of a four-element torque converter, an integral fluid pump and converter housing, a single and double planetary gear set, friction and mechanical clutch assemblies, and a hydraulic pressurization and control system.

R - 3.064

Its actually a good upgrade Grumpy.
Will help perform like a Modern musclecar.
Not best for drag race but none are interested as a group drag racing.
