As I am still working full time and have six car projects going on at once, I tend to get too spread out, but I put this Buick 455 motor together for my '70 GS pro streeter not too long ago. Didn't take enough pix, but here's a few, and I'll find the specs and post them too, don't have them right at hand. Here's a layout of the ported heads and Kenne Bell rocker assembly before it went together:

I tapped into an oil passage at the rear of the block and will run either a separate oil line from the oil pump, or put an oil accumulator tapped in there to boost the pressure when making a pass at the strip:

The motor is not back in the car yet, I need to finish up the back half, front syspension, fuel system; then after the motor is in finish up the electrical.

I have two daily drivers that keep needing little problems resolved that I never figured I would have to put time in on. Guess those "finished" projects are never really finished!!!

Some pix of the car are HERE.

Aloha,
Willy

Nice work. Nice to see something different. Did you notice your distributor is on the wrong end of the motor?

Yeah, I sure did, sorta suggests that an engine setback might be called for....
These Buicks have this piece of cast aluminum on the front of the motor that is sort of an all-in-one motor accessory package, water pump, distributor mount, timing cover, oil pump housing, oil filter mount, fuel pump mount, and they tend to wear out. Replacement units are $$$pendy! I have two more 455 cores I tore down and all are worn at the water pump, common location for that. I put the best of the three on this motor, so we'll see how well the water pump does. I was able to get a NOS impeller for it, got lucky on that. I am going to try to build one up at the worn water pump housing surface with some sort of epoxy steel or whatever, checking that out now to see what might work best.

Or just go with an external electric water pump and forget it.

For this app I blocked off the fuel pump hole, have a Holley Blue, good enogh for this app.
