I bought my 66 Impala project from a woman who's husband died while just getting started on it. He had pieces of the 350 engine he planned on using. The block is a four bolt main #3970010, he had new flat top pistons with four valve reliefs. (std) I still have to check if the block is ok at std. and doesn't need to be bored. The heads are 305 heads #378450 which he had sent out for machining. After checking the cr online it looks to me that the cr would be way too high for pump gas. Did I do it wrong or do I need different heads?
He had a Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold with a 600 cfm Holly for it I planned on using. I will be getting headers for it and will be installing a 700R4 Trans.
I don't need a huge amount of power as I'll never race it, I just want it to sound good and maybe be able to light up the tires from a stand still if i want to. I just wand a good cruiser.
Basically I'm asking if I need different heads what number heads do i need that are readily available used and what would be a good mild cam for it. If you need more info please let me know.
P.S.
I like the way the guy thinks, the engine is in pieces, the body and interior need pretty much everything and the first thing he buys is new tires. sounds like something I would do.
