Hi, every one!

well as some of you know I'm going to be swapping out my cam and wanted to know about ARP head studs

I have plans on either a procharger or nitrous (most likely NOS) and since i'm pulling the heads off I wanted to know heads ARP studs are they worth the money? is there a route to take and not spend $135 on some thing just as good?

head studs will produce both more consistent and slightly higher clamp loads on cylinder heads, if installed correctly, per ARP instructions, they can also be a P.I.T.A. in a car with clearance issues in the engine compartment. you'll need to think it thru, there's not a thing wrong with the ARP head bolts on an engine that's not going to be routinely torn down frequently. Id say that for most guys the ARP head bolts will be the better choice, but on a race car that will see constant tear downs and high cylinder pressures the studs have a place.
keep in mind head studs will require lifting the head strait up off the block as they slide over the studs until the head clears the studs before the head can be removed,(something brake boosters, air conditioner components and fenders can prevent OR removal of the head studs, before the head can be removed, bolts make in the car head removal easier in many cases., the main advantages of studs are less wear and stress on the block threads, and slightly more consistent and higher clamp loads, but keep in mind the ARP bolts ARE significantly stronger than OEM bolts, and youll seldom exceed even OEM bolt strength levels, on most applications, yes I used ARP BOLTS even on many of the engines I build for NITROUS use, I prefer studs on nitrous engines but engine compartment clearance and the potential frequency of engine tear downs comes into the decision

GrumpyVette, Hello!

That make alot of sence I'll be going with ARP "Bolts" and saving some money this engine is not oppened up very much

On a gen I sbc and GEN IV BBC and many other engines you re-use them, they should be fine Ive reused MANY DOZENS of ARP head bolt SETS, with ZERO PROBLEMS
on some other engines they are torque to yield and need to be replaced after each use, check with ARP if your unsure
