Think this guy would trade for my 96?

I like the Color of the 1969 Vette Phil.
I like C3's too.
I see Mildew damage inside though. Well worn used interior also.
C3's have their own quirks with time & age.
Worn out rear trialling arm bushings, Rear wheel bearing spindle & bearing hubs most likely need rebuilding.
Frame rail rot out is common on C3's.
Hidden Birdcage & frond windshield frame rot out common & tough to repair.
Check it out in person carefull 1st before making a deal.

Your 1996 is the best of the C4 Corvette line. Most refined. Makes an excellent daily driver. All weather conditions. Handles better than a C3 by far stock for stock comparison. Brakes superior stock on a C4.
1987-88 TPI C4's make good drivers too but not as fast on top end as later LT-1 & LT4. ZR-1 LT5 DOHC in a class by itself.

yea if the car really looks good underneath will be the deciding factor. im not worried about the interior as i plan on giving it some red guts before it sees the the street... black on red my favorite color combo and ive never been able to have a car like that.

yea man i gotta think of how im gonna commute to work and stuff too... the c4 never let me down so far and i race that thing almost every night against (seemingly) every modified honda in miami, even beat up a couple mustangs recently.

oh well.. a black with red interior early c3 is on my bucket list for sure.

i want it all too Phil.....Cars I like & Super Fast.
I may even get a Datsun 280 Z someday. Like them, a friend had a 1981 about 19 years ago. Was a Kool car. Pretty quick at the time too.

The C3 has no overdrive trans.
the C3 crowd likes that 200R4, not bullet proof stock. Must build it right yourself like Rick has here with his T-bucket.

in a perfect world i would slam that car to the ground and put it on the widest 17 inch american racing rally's that fit in the fenders,

destroked LS7 out of a c6 Z06 (with 4.8 crank) makes out to ~350 cubic inches 11.5:1 static CR with ported ls7 heads, and a cam and valvetrain that would turn 9000 rpm and live there. single plane intake with a TB on an elbow converted to EFI and plumbed with direct port nitrous running e85 mated to a t56 or a tr6060 with tuned headers and exhaust out the back, no side pipes. and just to be a dick i would run a wimpy final drive in the back like a 3.33 so i could touch 200mph in 4th

i just priced out the entire interior new from eckler's in red (and alot of replacement pieces that im sure are messed up in that car) and it would be about 6K for the interior all fresh with the color swap (without seats)

seating i would drop in some red C6 vette seats that i can get locally for about 750 bucks for the pair (likely from the car that donates the motor)

i love the look of rally wheels with the pipes out the back

but if i ran sidepipes i would run a staggered 15 or 16 inch setup with a more classic road race type wheel such as the 200s or the panasport or the carrol shelby

or you know when all else fails in Thrust we Trust

^^^^^ interestingly i just noticed both of those vintage race cars are convertible with hard tops.... man a c3 vert black with red guts would be killer... i would never put the top up. ever.

I can,t pick a car other guys like any more than I could pick a girl friend, wife or other important choices they must make but having owned a 1968, and 1976 corvette in the past i would probably never consider trading a decent condition 1996 corvette for either especially if the older corvettes a small block and needs the interior or electrics or body rebuilt, simply because the handling on the older vettes flat SUCKS without extensive mods, and Im not a huge fan of the c3 body, compared to the 1996 which I personally think is the best looking corvette produced, it only needs a health BIG BLOCK and a 4L80E and DANA 60

of all the corvettes produced you really think c4's are the best? im fairly certain they handle better than even the c5, so no argument there, just stylistically i grew up when they were new and thought they were awesome but that early c3 body and bumpers just dont quit

theres zero doubt the new c6 corvette is much more technically superior,
but as far as style, class, and the basic looks, Id take a 1996 over anything else chevy ever made, its just in my opinion a cleaner design

People don't realize how good a C4 Corvette is till you drive 1 and push it hard past 130.
Run through 40-45 mph twisties at 90-115.
Car performs & steering feefback excellent.
Even when you lose it & its sideways and spinning you can recover it.
Not many cars if any can do the same at $6-9k buying price today.

I agree with the Dana 60 Rear Grumpy.
Still my plan is using the 1957-58 Poncho 9.3 Rear Diff assembly.
They are super strong too.
The 4L80 E is impressive.
Just you need a computer of some sort for automatic upshifts.
The Trans Go conversion is full manual.
I want to be electronic free as possible.
In case a Nuke bomb drops.....EMF Super storm Nationwide....my Cars & Vette still runs.
Vertex Mag.
Will still keep working.
I don't trust that muslim liberal POTUS. Or Chuna 1 bit.
