I could use suggestions, especially if you've seen real combat and had to carry mags for extended time frames,
(realistically & THANKFULLY) few of us civilians will ever see anything like "COMBAT" but its still nice to have access to quality equipment
obviously easy access and secure closure, in any magazine holding vest, is important as is capacity to hold a reasonable amount of ammo.
if you can't rapidly access ammo thats a huge problem, as is potentially loss of magazines.
I've talked to several combat veterans and SWAT guys (obviously totally different mindsets)
as SWAT guys can't even conceive of needing more than two-three mags. in their worst nightmares
and they are more concerned with comfort and ability to carry equipment easily in a vehicle,
as walking any distance is almost inconceivable
(yes most guys on the swat teams exercise constantly but strength rather than endurance seems to be the goal
(yeah I shoot competition matches with these guys frequently at gun clubs and ranges)
(the vast differences in skill levels, between SWAT personnel, between departments and individuals is astounding in my opinion)
few SWAT GUYS I COMPETE WITH, in pistol & rifle matches, train to make rifle shots over 400 yards
(few ranges offer the longer range target option either)
obviously there's dozens of options, Id like to find some vest, or belt & suspender support combo,
that holds at least 8 magazines ,ideally with 4-6 pouches that each hold two mags in each pouch securely
and ideally can be used with any combo of M1A1/AK47/AR15 mags almost interchangeably
any suggestions?
(most of us have at least two different caliber military clone rifles so having some flexibility in the pouch size/depth etc. sure helps)
and yeah obviously a good value in quality vs price and ease of use and durability helps,
I don't care about color, ammo etc, but it should be easy to use and secure
some velcro or other rapid to use closure to secure mags is ideal rather than buckles etc. that make rapid access a P.I.T.A.
yes I'm well aware that the magazines differ a good deal in size & length and thickness etc.
I've used a mid size backpack with two larger compartments, with internal pockets sewn internally,
in the past but as a combat rig,
but that's hardly ideal or easily & rapidly accessible
