You are never going to get the power down clean without a Race Camshaft.
4000-4500 rpm stall.

Transbrake.
None exist worth a crap a Transbrake unless it's a Turbo 400 Transmission, 4L80E Jake's D1 or D3.
Powerglide.
Or Turbo 350.

Then the the rear diff will blow up.

You also need 3.90 diff gears.
Or 4.30 -4.33.

Hero Run....shift at 7000-7500.
She blows she blows go for 10s
 
Also need True lightweight drag wheels.
90/10's up front.
50/50s out back.
Stiffest rear leaf spring made for a C5.

Been through this 10,000 times now at least !

I still like old school,cause Im old. The old 68 L71 with some mods. Fuel inj changed the game.
I took a gamble recalling old threads I read here on Grumpys site and researched more on my own.
Found a Really Stellar Carburator series by Holley for everyone wanting to drive and cruise at will.
Then Street Race anytime.
Unique Emulsion circuits that lean cruise out.
No other Annular Booster Carburator does that.
Super Rich AFR all others for drag race power only.
The Holley Competition Annular Booster 4150,Double pumper mechanical secondary with 4-corner idle circuits.
Will work with mild cams to full drag race.
Affordable at $649.00 new the #9380 I bought. 850 cfm.
Also made in 830 cfm and 750 cfm versions.
Highly recommend.
Works just like EFI driveabilty.
Just no choke plate.
Cold start not an issue so far.

I was following 69 My Way over on DC in the early years. I was interested in the Hyd throw out bearing conversion he was doing at that time. The electric pop up lights he did was kewl.I noticed he does post back on there on occasion.Ill be 66 next month but feel 86/lol!Wrenchen all my life has taken its toal. 78 & 85.jpg When I picked up the 78/l82/4Spd for shits & giggles I was gona try a Holly FI throttle body conversion but went with the Holly Spread bore carb to replace the Q jet.Ill cach ya later Maniac,Im gona watch some Ghost Stories for a bit. So Color Me Gone.

She is STILL steaming mad at me!
To make matters worst .. "Night Stalker" got me in to more hot water this morning with that video clip he posted.. lol
As I was on my way out today she asked me what I wanted for dinner tonight....I told her to make me a "Turkey Pot Pie" :D

I am hoping my MUD TRUCK is still there when I get home today!!
