ever purchased an out of state muscle or project car?

the third gens are a tough one to love, but the later GTAs and TTAs are pretty good looking for the era

I got too look over, sit in and go for a drive in the cobra last night!
the car is a cit cramped for my 6'3" 250lb butt that much is obvious and sitting in it my line of site is directly in line with the upper windshield frame so if they were to install a roof I doubt I could sit in the car comfortably with what would rather obviously be a rather restrictive roof height, the foot well area is cramped making working the floor petals a bit restrictive with my size 12EE feet.
but its fairly fast even with the stock mustang 302 efi engine and five speed manual transmission, its got an impressive, high quality paint job,the side pipes make it sound really more powerful that it truly is, the interior and dash looks like the cars new.
at about 2200 lbs even 300 fly wheel hp is fairly brisk
the gauge lay out is less than ergonomically friendly , in that most of the gauges are in the dash center and mounted lower than ideal.
the butt dyno tells me its probably a mid 12 second car as it sits currently, and the feel of the engine tells me theres a huge untapped potential, as the last 514 BBF (460 stroker) I built in a 3400 lb fairlane had far more BALLS, so its rather obvious the car could be a 10 second toy if I had about $15 K to dump into a BBF build

sticking a stock 302 efi in a cobra should be a crime with SEVERE FINANCIAL PENALTY'S and MODERATE JAIL TIME BEING MANDATORY,EVEN AFTER A FULL MENTAL EXAM FOR SANITY
at least in my opinion a cobra should have a 429-to-557 BIG BLOCK with WEBERS OR INDIVIDUAL RUNNER STACK,EFI

a cobra without a serious BIG BLOCK ENGINE
and WEBERS or STACK injection in my opinion is
like building a BANANA SPLIT
WITHOUT ICE CREAM

Make it pretty would be the hard part for me, but that is already done. So making
it fast would be EASY and FUN for myself.

i think a big block would be incredibly fun and scary to drive in one of those little cars... the radical off-idle torque would either shred tires or flatten your eyeballs, maybe both.

heres an impressive ford big block build

http://www.onallcylinders.com/2013/09/2 ... -598-ford/

After three pulls, the engine made its peak numbers—1,025 horsepower and 836 pounds-foot of torque—and hit those points on virtually every subsequent pull.

heres a bbc build Id be more familiar with, having built several dozen BBC engines over the last decade alone

netting 1,013 peak horsepower at 7,400 rpm and 770 lbs.-ft. peak torque at 6,100 rpm.

I noticed a newer supercharger company makes an application for small block ford engines that might be a useful accessory, but Im not familiar with the brand, so does anyone have any input here?

I have never heard of that Centrifugal Super Charger company Grumpy.
With my past experience with the Chicago Joliet 5.0 Ford guys , Its hard for me to think outside of Vortech Superchargers.
They just plain work. Lower IAT'S than any .
Very efficient and proven design.
Take a 13-12 second stang and turn it into 10-8 second race car that also can be street driven.
Of course there us much more to than bolting a Super Charger on and go like a Bat out of Hell on Fire.

There are some interesting Roots Super chargers out today....Some are Huge...Top Fuel Dragster Size and efficient too.

my brother-in-law is contemplating installation of a supercharger on his SBF A.C.COBRA, but it MUST fit in the current engine compartment and work with the current for fuel injected 302 v8 , yeah larger injectors and tuning required thats understood

The 5.0 guys like Forged Crankshafts & H-beam rods. CP Brand pistons.
And that Trickflow Main cap Steel girdle.
I would not exceed 550 hp with stock block.
7-9 psi boost will scare the Crap out of your brother in law.
He is not used to Big Block Chevy & Pontiac 455 Power like us.

btw
many guys carry a small magnet when they are looking at potential project cars,
its used to determine if the cars doors, fenders, roof etc are covered i
n BONDO ,
as magnets only stick well too steel, and if your about to spend thousands of dollars on some muscle car,
you don,t want to purchase a well disguised repaired rust bucket coated in bondo,
but it takes fairly thick BONDO, too keep a magnet from sticking,
there are precise gauge or meters, you casn purchase reasonably,
designed to tell you exactly how thick the paint, BONDO ,
or anything else is under the paint ,and over the original steel body work
its useless on corvettes and fiberglass like A.C,Cobra replicas but you knew that!:D
