Haltech EX6 on a 84 for TPI or LT1 conversion?

Does anyone know about Haltech products and if their EX6 will work for me to swap an LT1 or TPI into my 84? It has a bar graph mapping format that seems like it might be a little more user friendly for a newby like me, but really, I have no idea, so, there it is! I am bent and determined to learn how to do this, but they just don't have a book or a class at my local city college on this particular subject! Ha! Please bless me with some much needed wisdom, here, I'd appreciate it very much! Thanks!

Ive yet to see one of those systems yet., but from experience in the past using several stand alone ECU controllers I can tell you its the wiring harness, sensors, gauges and detailed instructions, tech support guys, that will make or break the conversion.
don,t get all focused into the ease of tuning, alone because once you get the base map you do a few tweaks and your in the ball park in most cases, its the durability and ease of diagnosing problems thats the key and if you need all new sensors and gauges installed to get it to function, in your application because the cost of the new sensors, adapters wire harness and gauges could easily cost more than the ecu

here is a vaugely similar HOLLEY system that seems to offer a good deal more options

be aware that youll need to ask lots of questions, before you purchase any efi control unit, because,
in most cases the current cars EFI system and GAUGES, and possibly the transmission, shift points
are all controlled by the ECU, and, the supplied wiring harness (if its even supplied) won,t function in your application, as most basic harnesses are extremely short, and many systems WON,T BE 100% compatible, and it does you little good to have the engine controls without the transmission and gauges working in unison, with the ecu, or if you need all new sensors and gauges installed to get it to function, in your application because the cost of the new sensors, adapters wire harness and gauges could easily cost more than the ecu

The E6X System optimizes engine performance through the following capabilities:

- Ignition timing control
- Fuel control
- Idle speed control
- Closed loop

The E6X is much more than a programmable fuel injection computer - it provides logging of engine data and allows access in real time to maximize performance and trouble-shoot problems in a vehicle while running.

Typical Applications:

- Control of fuel injection on modified engines
- Conversion from carburetion to fuel injection
- Race and rally applications of all description
- Design and development purposes
- Educational use by universities and technical colleges
- Original equipment in cars and motorcycles.

The patented Haltech system of programming virtually eliminates the input of numbers. You simply manipulate bar graphs by pressing arrows keys on the attached PC running Haltech Programming software. Manipulating the bars allows you to increase or decrease the amount of fuel delivered or ignition advance at that particular RPM and load point. The process is repeated for all load points in each rpm range.
Ignition timing is precisely mapped through the RPM range so that the exact timing required to obtain optimum performance is applied in every RPM and load range.

The E6X Short Kit includes:

ECU Programmable Computer, Programming Cable, Short Wire Harness OR Patch Loom, Programming CD, Instruction Manual on CD and Haltech Stickers

The Haltech E6X is a powerful "real-time" programmable fuel injection and ignition system computer designed to control most ignition type engines. Whether 1-6, 8, 10 or 12 cylinders, 1-2 rotors, naturally aspirated, turbocharged or supercharged, the HALTECH E6X can control it.
