I have a Rochester 2 barrel carb, I believe it's called a 2G series on of course a '68 Pontiac 400 Auto.
I have the quadrojet list and this carb has similar numbers. 7043062 and the bottom numbers 3152HF1.

What brand do you recommend for rebuild kits? Now I know there are some kits that come with more replaceable parts then some others and that maybe more important for the 4V carbs verses the 2V applications, am I correct? I'm wondering why Ames sells kits for the 2V for $90 - what could make those kits so high?

Try and find a Neihoff carb rebuild kit.
Borg Warner the 2nd choice.

There is that guy Cliff Ruggles also.
Your supposed to use a Modern Viton Rubber Accelerator pump for Todays gasoline with E10 .
I don't know why Ames is expensive.

Thank you Brian. I'll google those brands to find who sells them. Are all the late 60s and 70s 2 barrel Rochesters the same? Using the same kits? That's part of why I need to ID the carb with those numbers.

There was a small Venturi 2GC 2-BBL & A LARGE VENTURI & AIRHORN 2GC.
You have the Large 2GC.
LOOKUP BY THE ALUMINIUM TRIAGLE CARB TAG NUMBER STAMPED INTO .

I'm actually fixing something that's not broke. Things like this bother me when I have no idea when it was ever serviced last and it's certainly been sitting long periods between different seasons and down time for restorations and other various reasons. Even if it's running correctly it will look great after I recondition some parts and make it look like new again.

That's fine.
So far the 1968 Catalina Convertible is pretty sound.
They just used what was available for a Trans and a rear Diff.

I'll be right back. I need to check this carb out and the Air cleaner housing is off.

Order the 2-BBL Carb rebuild kit by the 1st line stamped numbers.
7043 . . . .

My mistake its a 2 GV Rochester. Intake manifold choke mounted thermostatic coil.

But it's still the large 2G because it's the large bolt pattern and it doesn't look like the small version.
