Well, we have oooooone small problem.
I intend to surprise the Missus with it. She saw a few samples of early C3 Corvettes online many months ago. She digs them and said she “could see herself driving one”. Those, as you know gentlemen, are magic words.
So: Don’t know when. Don’t know how... but for the moment it is under wraps in my garage till I find a nice opportunity to spring this on her.
This is also extremely frustrating for me.
At first glance it looks to be better than expected.
The carb is an AFB. I like that. But strangely the choke is stuck open. I didn’t have time to see why. It looks like it was purposely disabled. It’s is also running very rich. But again I’ve only driven it 2-300 feet in 45 degree weather. And only got to second gear.
The shifter seems very vague. Reverse is fiddly and tough to find.
Furthermore, timing wise, all of this seems to have come into a perfect storm. Tomorrow I have a natural, drug-tested, bodybuilding contest. Belgian finals. I can’t win, I know. I’m not good enough yet. But I am learning and improving. So the timing is such, I cannot be distracted.
The paint looks pretty damn good.
Steering and brakes felt fine for the few yards I drove it.
