Right gentlemen.

I failed tech inspection for local DOT. I removed the supercharger but they still saw through me. The alcohol injection. The boost gauge. The MSD.

I can remove everything, pass DOT, and replace everything. That's a drag. No pun intended.

So here's the plan: conceal everything. MSD, water meth controller, circuit and relay...

I'm going to put many components on a board (wood?) and conceal under dash and in glove box. The idea is next year I'll only have to remove the super and alcohol pump.

Soooo, I'll be looking for ideas on concealing.

This is gonna be fun!

Can they look in the trunk? Can they raise the car and look under neither ??? Just where can they look??? Painting or covering the component so there is nothing to read, would help unless they are knowledgeable in speed equipment.

Pictures of what you are trying to hide would be helpful, even if you have to include a stapler

Right- they can look in the trunk, they can do anything they want. We just have to make it look acceptably normal.

They idea is they have to prove that the component isn't stock But there is no paperwork... so it's a fool's game.

I need to conceal anything that is obviously not stock. The MSD had a com cable on it + "programmable" printed on top... neither are vintage 70s. So, I need to hide that. The boost gauge was an obvious giveaway. I guess a vacuum gauge could be swapped in temporarily The supercharger bracket and tensioner was still on there... Well, it got through last time.

They complained about the SSB caliper was also an issue.

The problem is that they did not detail everything that needs to be removed. So we gotta clean things up and give it another shot.

Ideally I want this so that for the next tech inspection all I have to do is remove the supercharger and the bracket  and the water alcohol pump and cruise through.... Oh, and of course the calipers.

I suppose I need to fabricate a panel with on board the relay panel, the MSD, the coil, the water/meth controller, and the lockup controller.

The switch panel will go in the glove box.

The only problem is the tank in the trunk + fuel pump and lines...

Pics tomorrow of all that needs to be consolidated.

omg, f/king laws.

We already went through those "inspection" as we call them here, need to be done when importing a car or if the car was unliscenced for more that 1 years.. need heater on the winshield, hand brake, windshield washer, working lights/flasher.. they did not care about the exhaust and accel ignition. We are in a different country, seem like your country is worst. They want to make it worst here, they want everyone to get inspection each 2 years when your car is 6 years or older and everyonce the car is sold.. if this bill get passed... many guy will be pissed off.

anyway not going political, i want to talk for the relay box/panel.
Most guy use plastic container with a lid, it can look almost neat.. its to stuck hidden in the glovebox or underside the dash so who care about cosmetic. and its weight reduction, thin plastic vs thick wood :p

The tank in the trunk and fuel line are not accepted?, if thats the case its a real pita :/

Considering that the original tank is toast... That'd be a PITA, yes.

Yes... A plastic box with cover. I d like it to be neat, practical and concealed.

Any pics of ideas? Hmmm...

Today, I try to slap on new super + ps pump...

Hmmm, Looks like I'll have to gut the glove box (don't like doing that) and remove the plastic ducting under it. Hmmm...

Yeah am lucky i still have my under/trunk fuel tank and mine loks brand new :)
Your fuel line are 1/2, the stock is probably 3/8 and that may screw with your fuel pressure?, It can be fixed with some plumbing..

Look at the picture in this forum, they have picture of a neat plastic relay box(well, as neat as it can go)

Right - just ordered some stock style break calipers to pass inspection +

Yes, we wouldn't want safer brakes now would we?
Too bad the supercharger isn't really an a/c compressor! ;)

They thought the adjustable speed torque converter lockup dial was an ignition retard.

Coincidentally my 15/16 master cylinder just came in. I am tempted to swap out the 1" master cylinder before putting back on (temporarily) the stock calipers. Just to see if it will work well. Till now the SSB dual piston worked all right... just would not lock up unless quite hot.

Hmmmm...

Right. Removed the water meth pump, the vacuum pump for the brake booster, the kill switch, the supercharger bracket... and more.

I also removed the interior of the glove box... WOW!!!! Lots of space freed up. I should be able to easily mount my circuit panel, MSD and alcohol controller.

I'll be placing an override switch under the dash so the key will turn on the electric fuel pump and MSD. That way the Tech Inspection people will not have to toggle on and off circuit board switches. The switch panel will be stowed in the glove box when not in use...

Added benefit of having MSD in the glove box: laptop can be next to me during dyno runs.

Since they can look anywhere, are you planning on putting the glove box back after you get everything mounted ??? If you don't pass, can you go to a different location and try there ???

Man, what a pain in the ass to go thru.

Once you try and fail at a location, you have to keep coming back to the same place until you pass.

I doubt they'll check glove box... it might be stuck shut anyway ;)

A bit of Velcro in addition to screws.

Looks like a better place for the MSD-6AL anyway.

Can they fail you because the engine doesn't SOUND stock ???

They wouldn't know what a stock sounding engine sounds like...

My idle is also on the gentle side - so I think we are ok there.
