the sleeper system

Turbo 400 or Powerglide be my choices Phil .
Transbrake. Red Alto Eagle Frictions.
Carbon Fiber Bands.
Build it yourself .
One of those High Tech Torque converters that have a split case. Bolts together.
Stall easily changed modified.

making the trip to go anywhere to race anyone with a 2 or 3 speed is a pain in the ass brian... id rather not make the comprimise

New workday Phil.
I take it you don't have a car trailer & decent pickup.
4L80E then.
Just those lockup converters are so heavy.
Race models expensive. $2k converter.

C4 Vette could be used ad chassis.
Frame has lots of beaming stiffness but no torsional rigity inn coupe.
Must cage it.
Blow the targa top off otherwise on launch.
Roadsters like mine have 13 additional hidden frame stiffner braces.

i have a trailer and a new silverado... we use it all the time. just not for race cars. i drive my shit, and i beat shit that comes off of trailers. thats the idea of the sleeper... if the car isnt even practically built to drive from my house to grumpys house than its no very sleepy

I hear Ya Phil. I want to drive to Grumpys house too.
Be in the 87 Roadster. Or '63 GP.
70 TA Staying 110 Race Gas . Been thst way for 20 years.

heres a link I posted (below) a while back about a very successful SLEEPER

1965buickz.jpg

LARRY B,s car look very similar to this but was flat black primer, most of the time, it was eventually given a really nice deep gloss black paint job and a killer hidden nitrous system, and a dana 60 rear differential, but great pains were taken to keep it looking as stock as possible with the caddy engine painted Buick colors and having Buick 350 decals and a Buick air cleaner etc. allowing it to run mid 11 seconds , it retained the bench clothe seats and look of a economy car

keep in mind the real times even the well known muscle cars , like hemi cudas, 440 dodge six pack road runners, 396 camaros and 427 tri power corvettes were running

You have me more than Curious of those Caddy 472 & 500 ci 1968-'76 Engines Grumpy.
Torque does rule on the street. Normally aspirated or power adders.
Seldom do you run a True 1/4 mile. More like 300-660 feet.
Or its Flat out runs of 1/2-2 miles.
Phil wants 900-1200 at the back wheels.
In reality 700-800 HP BE PLENTY.
