a BIG BLOCK CHEVY OR BB FORD.
of those options the BB chevy has by far the most parts, options and its the most economical (relative term) to build
but you can certainly build a fast car with even a well designed 396 BBC
you could obviously make , a long list of various moderately cheap, too very expensive,
improvements, changes and some rather obvious, (at least too me) changes that may be very beneficial,
but overall its a rather well thought out build, with obviously some experience and thought,
put into the parts list and assembly procedures. that should produce good power and be rather durable
btw
I wish these guys had built a very similar 402-427- 454 BBC with some 300cc oval port AFR heads as a comparison
and hp per dollar and power curve comparison.
interesting 743 hp non supercharged, sbc build
dart 18 degree heads, 250cc ports, a cam with .700 lift, 421 cubic inches, 12:1 compression, 1000 cfm carb ported super vic intake if they had selected a tunnel ram with dual 650cfm carbs they could, very likely , if the combo was tunned correctly, pick up an added 40 plus hp

big block head comparison
(below youll find several links too some of the more exotic high flow racing BBC head designs from the aftermarket ) (these are not directly interchangeable with stock components,) and will generally require selecting matching expensive aftermarket intakes, from that heads manufacturer, and...

what to look for in a "GOOD" engine combo
I got asked , "what makes a GOOD vs A poor engine combo?" and without getting into specific combos , too deeply, lets look at that question like with most performance parts and applications the critical part of the build, is generally in selecting the correct components for that particular...
