a 389-455 pontiac can be an excellent base engine, (FAR BETTER THAN MOST GUYS WHO WERE BROUGHT UP IN THE 1960s MIGHT BELIEVE,) but youll generally spend significantly more money to build a killer pontiac than a similar powered BBC engine
parts are generally harder to find and more expensive, but that doesn,t mean you can,t build impressive hp , now that decent heads , intakes and rotating assemblys that far surpass the components available in the musclecar era are available.
don,t think a PONTIAC can,t be made to run VERY effectively in the car, the pontiac engine while totally differant than the chevy has a good deal of potential. I build LOTs of pontiacs, they will cost more to build than a sbc but there are some advantages, the main concerns of years back about weak rods and restrictive head flow rates are now long ago corrected
