breaking in a new rifle barrel

I can assure you from my experience ,that careful bore cleaning and maintenance,
helps a great deal in maintaining and potentially improving a rifles accuracy!
and use of a bore swab soaked in HOPPES solvent , oil, and moly spray, on the patch,

dozens of times before the first cartridge is ever fired,
and careful bore cleaning after every two or three shots a bore swab soaked in HOPPES solvent

, oil, and moly spray, on the patch, during the first 20-30 shots,
goes a long way towards increasing the rifle or revolvers accuracy.
and it certainly helps to clean and re- moly coat the bore and oil the bore to prevent rust,

after every use during the rifle or revolvers life
as the bore surface laps in the flaws are partly removed by the bullet passage,
and frequent cleaning and surface re-coating with moly that fills the micro flaws
after the bores well broken in you can just clean the rifle carefully as above after every use or hunt,

youll need a caliber matching set of bore brushes to clean the bore in some cases

btw a rifle bore may be very accurate yet still shoot badly if the bedding is defective,

rifle bore's (especially those using cast bullets below about 2300 fps,)

are rarely (SHOT OUT) most are worn/ damaged, through lack of cleaning,
improper cleaning, lack of oil and preventive maintenance, and damaged by rust or copper fouling
if your used to throwing that old 30/30 , or 30/06 back in the closet with just a bit of WD40 spray on the surfaces the rifle will wear out faster than if it was properly maintained

My way is 1 shot then clean up til 10 then 2 shots then clean on 10-20 then 3 and clean for 3 rounds then go crazy but a funny story I bought a new 7mm Mag and broke it in this way it was a combo deal with a Nikon 3x9 scope and I could not get it to shoot even a friend of mine couldn't keep it on target so I sent the rifle and the scope back to the manuafactures
so they sent me a new scoped rifle and Nikon sent me a new scope so being that I had a new scope I was forced to buy a rifle to put it on

With who its made by if the style of the gun is what you're looking for you pretty much know that its a top of the line gun they don't make bad guns and if I was to start over 308 would be my choice there are just a few things in this world that 308 couldn't take care of and of those few things it will take care of them but the shooter better do his job
