Hi , I need some wisdom on a cam choice; I have talked with some of the cam companies out there and two cam grinders, cam motion, and Clay Smith. It seems everyone has a different recommendation; I have spent a lot of time on this forum and i am very impressed with the knowledge that is shared on here! That is way I am asking. I am building a 1967 C10 two wheel drive short box...hot rod. the truck will never see the track but i want a heavy hitting street basher that will be driven on weekend's.
It's a 30 over 427 BBC SRP #158830 hi dome pistons
Depending on the block HT it could be 11 to one or as high as 12 to one compression; with a 122 cc head from Brodix with a 305 runner; trying to keep the RPM range below 6500, also a dual plane intake. I would prefer a hydraulic roller but a solid roller is not off the table. Cam motion said they have a low lash solid roller; not sure about that, i have never heard of it but that don't mean anything!
It will have a built turbo 400 trans...will buy the converter as needed. Ford 9 inch rear end with a 340 gear 28 inch tall tires.
Everything but the crank and block are after market. I understand building a 427 and trying to keep it below 6500 RPM is kinda backwards thinking but as long as i can remember i wanted to do a old school 427 BBC
Thank you very much
