many guys just don,t have the space or finances to build a garage but they still want to keep the car out of the hot sun, rain and snow or at least provide minimal protection for the car, for that use and to make working on the car far more comfortable a source of some shade and rain protection can be had with a fairly in expensive roof over the car or (CAR PORT), many can be set up and moved if you move.
theres dozens of designs, materials and price ranges and i know several guys with nice conventional buildings for shops that have these mounted on concrete drive ways to provide a bit of protection for cars packed outside the shop and this also can at times provide a nice ventilated place to work on some projects or in some cases a paint booth
