distributor lower cam gear
I doubt cleaning, the damaged area on that chipped gear tooth on that gear with a file would have any detrimental effect,
but the cost of a new gear and the effort too replace it is, minimal
,so the smarter route, and both fairly cheap and fast, is to replace the gear,
with a proper replacement, coat the teeth with moly grease,
and install it on the distributor than install and time the car,
so it makes little sense to not replace the distributor gear,

Just noticed a small chip in the lower gear. Does this need replacing or just file the edge down a little? Not sure why only one tooth would have a chip in it. Hopefully, the cam gear is ok.

Those links are some good information. I didn't know that there were two sizes for the gear shafts. I'm going to measure mine and order a new gear.
Thanks all for the help.
