I noticed one of the rear tires leaning after the last spirited drive so I put it on the lift and checked it over. I found the bushings in the strut rods to be in very bad shape and falling apart. I’ve wanted to do a 6-link conversion so I figured this was a good time to get started on it. I decided to start with the DragVette system and work from there since it looks to be a good solid kit and the price is reasonable.
My main reason for wanting a 6-link is to remove the half shaft from being a suspension component. My stub shafts have some play and I’ve wanted to resolve this also, the 6-link will take care of the slack for me. I really like the idea of the half shaft loops and the idea that if a half shaft fails the tire will stay in place.
Along with the 6-link kit I ordered the rear cross-member stabilizing disc, the billet U-joint caps and the drive shaft loop for safety.
I understand there is an issue with the upper link on cars that have been lowered; the mounting bolt contacts the frame under hard compression of the suspension. I’m going to see what modifications it will take to resolve this issue and make them.
I was curious if anyone here has installed this kit or has any firsthand experience with this kit?
Appreciate any input;
I’ll try and post my progress as I go,
Neal
