LOOKS LIKE HOLLEYS SALES DEPARTMENT SMOKES CRACK REGULARLY, at $700 each they won,t be selling many to anyone I know!
drop the price to $100-$140 and they may sell a few thousand to the hard core race crowd

Re: GOOD FUEL FILTER INFO OFF THE INTERNET

Why is that Holley HydraMat so expensive ?
Off my want list too.

Have a new Gas Tank for my 1970-1/2 TA I bought last winter.
Build a custom 5/8" #10 Stainless pickup assembly myself.
Or I will MOROSO Sump it Drag Race Style.
No gas ever in the new tank. Feel safe to weld away.

Re: GOOD FUEL FILTER INFO OFF THE INTERNET

It would be great but it's cheaper to baffle and I notice any of it that is common fuel cell size is $$$$$big $$$$ take Holley to ruin a good thing with greed need to finish my fuel system list up JIC fittings and aeroquip pushlock sad though budget racers never get a break.

It seems that way Yes John.
Its either all out High Tech and find the $ that just isn't there no more.
Or do it Big Cubes Old School style.
Read Pro Stock Racing is doomed.
Ideas of using Super Stock to fill the Void with 7-second ET's.

I'm going with a MSD Fuel Injection system on my 84 C4. Supply and return lines have to affix to the tank. The OEM tank has a plastic liner that is not compatible. I need an all steel tank that I can Braze the connectors for the lines. MSD wants the supply and return from the bottom of the tank. Engine is 460 HP 416 sbc. I guess I'll buy a new tank cut it in half remove the liner and TIG it back together. Beef up and dampen the contact points before install. Found somebody that would FAB a stainless one for $1,000...that's out of my price range Thx

if youve ever wondered why Ive suggested no one use the cheap glass fuel filters, its because they are prone to leak, with less than safe results.

a stock tank may not be your best option

While I'm not an expert at tig welding Ive owned and used a TIG welder for decades in my shop, And I know welding on thin galvanized fuel tanks is a HUGE P.I.T.A. and if you ever had fuel or rust in a tank or a plastic liners or epoxy internal coating,.youll have a very hard time welding a leak free thin sheet steel tank especially if its galvanized steel.
going through that much modification work on a crappy quality stock fuel tank would be borderline insane for accomplishing your intended goal, it would make a good deal more financial sense, in the longer term, too remove the existing fuel tank, and then very carefully and accurately measure the area the tank mounts inside the car , and remember you might want a smaller capacity too save weight if your drag racing or a larger capacity for road racing, and, once you determine your size limitations, find and purchase an appropriately sized and designed FUEL CELL with the AN#8 fuel line connections you desire in the capacity you want, you can get a much better quality aluminum fuel cell or have one custom made up to your exact specs, and this can include line connection locations capacity, materials mount brackets, internal baffles slosh foam, ETC. while it won.t be dirt cheap a custom tank, made by a local fabricator can be found for under $500 in most areas, if you draw a detailed diagram for hime to use as a guide to make it, I would suggest no smaller than AN#8 or 1/2" ID fuel lines and a matching fuel filter and fuel pump capacity and personally ID prefer the top side fuel line connections as theres less chance of fuel leaks

If your current fuel tank or fuel lines can,t keep up with the engines demands, can you remove the current plate and fittings and drill and soldier in a larger dual fuel fittings

I follwed along on DC Tonight Grumpy.
Every single C4 Corvette ever built has Factory Fuel Lines that are Tiny.
Not even a 1/4 inch drill bit will fit inside the lines ID.
I wouldn't let Wiz build a Drag Race car.
It would Blow up.
Everything Ed & me build together for others have #8 AN SINGLE , TWIN # 8 AN , #10 AN , & #12 AN MAIN FEED FUEL LINES.
A CHASSIS DYNO IS NOT A FICKEN RACE TRACK.
A CHASSIS DYNO WILL NOT STREET RACE HELLCATS & BLOW AWAY.

I see you snuck a Link in with my #10 AN AEROMOTIVE 340L X 2 STEALTH C4 Fuel Pump build.
No one can duplicate .
Mopar Bob & me have the special Mandrel Tubing Bender.
Can not Buy It.
LOL.

while I have too say some of the projects, posts, pictures, and skills you and a few other members have demonstrated,
(and thats mostly the reason we tend to have better cars and engines)
its those skills and projects that surely show you and a few others can both think on your/ and their feet and fabricate rather unique and well thought out custom parts,
Id point out that you and I and a few other members here on the web site are only in a small select group of more experienced and better than average mechanics,
WE ARE NOT totally unique in that ability to build and fit custom fabricated components, or come up with custom built solutions to issues.
while there does not seem to be many of us older geezers,
still building street performance cars, that don,t rely on a check-book and over the counter parts
we are an exclusive group , but hardly unique.
I think the mere fact your willing to fabricate and build custom components, and take the time to post info to help out, puts you and I and a few other members like RICK , CARLOS , CHROME BUMPERS, NOT A TA, and a dozen other members well above the average skill level I see!
personally I'm always rather amazed when I see guys in this hobby that don,t have tools like welders, hydraulic presses and drill presses, engine stands, engine cranes ,dial calipers, simply because your so darn limited in what you can do without a few larger tools in this hobby

Ok Grumpy.
I was talking to Drawman 44 a few nights ago texting,
The Corvette World has changed...
Lots of custom fabrication going on...Trade secrets and most will not give away all.
Or even post pictures .
There is A Damn Good Reason for LARGER THAN STOCK FUEL LINES AND HUGE EXTERNAL FUEL PUMPS & BELT DRIVE FUEL PUMPS LIKE HILBORN, CROWER, & BO LAWS BLP.
MUST BE THOUGHT OUT FOR ROAD RACING, DRAG RACING, SUPER STREET RACING AGAINST HELLCATS, AND EVEN HOT STREET PERFORMANCE WITH A C3 & C4 CORVETTE WITH 355 CUNIC INCHES TOO 496 CI BBC TORQUE MONSTER.
