now anyone who says they have never done something either stupid or careless is obviously lying but I figured you might get a grin out of this,
as most guys know the hood lock stud on a c4 corvette

slides into the latch, below it on the fire wall and the latch locks, the stud from opening, and the latch and hood lock stud are alignment are slightly adjustable as to location, so the latch plates normally lined up with the stud to allow the hood to close, its adjustable with three 10mm bolts.
until the cable is pulled to allow the stud to be released
well I carefully measure and carefully line things up only to find the pass side locks perfectly but the drivers side won,t catch? ? ? ? after trying several times to get it right, I stopped and thought about it, and decided to very carefully mark the stud and latch with two separate color paint dabs to find where the miss match in the alignment was.... only after trying that a couple times did I notice the 10MM deep well socket that had dropped inside the latch that was preventing it from seating
so next time YOU SCREW UP,......realize we all do at times,
BTW ADDING A SAFETY RELEASE, IS A GOOD IDEA IT MAKES LIFE FAR EASIER, IF THE HOOD RELEASE CABLE BREAKS, and you need to open the hood so adding one on both sides is not a bad idea. and having a magnet retrieval tool helps at times
