most headers come with bolt on flanges, like these
but many racing headers don,t come with flanges, so you can use a slip on collector to tune the engine combo, and exactly tune the torque range the headers scavage at most effectively
so you need these clamps, if your going to install an exhaust system

btw use anti seize on the bolt threads, on those clamps, and throw them in the cars trunk when not in use or the bolts tend to rust or lock up and the clamps can fall off and be lost due to the vibrations if left partly installed in some applications
