one of my best friends bought a brand new,and owned a 1970 charger with a 440 wedge engine,
that he purchased and retro fitted a 3 deuce (three two barrel) intake on,
he added long tube headers and he changed the rear gear ratio
to 3.54:1 if I remember correctly, the car would run high 12 seconds on street tires,
and it had a lot of trunk and interior room, it was a car I really liked,
and I often offered to buy it , from him. he eventually had some drunk running a red-light t-bone him,
after begging the insurance company to have it repaired he eventually took a pittance,
(as what they offered even then would not come close to the cost to replace just the drive train,)
his absurdly low pay-out was an insult, after they refused too both let him buy the wreck to salvage the engine,
and drive train,or rebuild the car.
(I got the feeling the insurance estimator wanted to own and salvage the wreck personally)
