Hydraulic Roller lifter Question

I got board today and starting looking at my hydraulic roller lifters thought I’d inspect them since I have cam & distributor gear metal in my engine while I was inspecting I found that some of the pushrod cups would not move like the others (push in) so I soaked them for a while in hot soapy water then took them apart and cleaned out every part then put them together now they all move “freely” as they should, wanted to know if they still can be used??

The rollers all move freely to, but have some small scars on them don’t know if that would be a problem for the new cam going in, I’d like to save the money if I can and reuse them if every thinks it be ok?

The new cam has 550 lift is that a problem for these lifters?

you might see some lint in the pick, there all cleaned in the pics

they all look re-useable from the photos
, if your detailed inspection shows nothing wrong place them in a ziploc bag and coat them with marvel mystery oil until you reuse them, its YOUR engine you need to look them over carefully and decide, but with only a couple thousand miles on them and your saying only a few minor scratches ID reuse them

keep in mind if you had installed several magnets in the previous engine that crud would not have circulated freely in the oil, untill the oil pump ground it up and puked it back into the oil filter or bye-pass circuit and oil passages

grumpy hi

I did inspect them really good I used a super bright L.E.D flashlight and Qtips to get in the barrels and make sure they was cleaned out (was not much in them) I inspected the inside of the lifter bodies and the inner barrels of every one to be honest about it really didnt even find the reason some was stuck??? the small amout of oil that I pour out of them was inspected to didnt fine and chunks in it, but could see some metallic in the oil (like a paint but not as much metallic )

I'm guessing the few that was stuck should have caused damage on the roller rock pushrod cups but they all look the same as far as wear gos?

IVE re-used dozens of roller lifter sets after engine tear downs,, some on new cams, if they look good under a close inspection, you clean them up, oil them and re-use them!, look the first time you fire up an engine you've got (USED LIFTERS) that's hardly a concern, you don,t swap them out before every use of the car, your running (USED LIFTERS) 99% of the time!, its really not anything to be concerned about IF YOU'VE closely inspected them and found them to be in good condition

Gumpy thanks

I dont know if I dont ask! I just wanted to make sure I've hard of collapsed lifters but didnt know what the meaning was, and didnt know if once they stick it was a bad idea to use them

I'd hate to have to toss them and shell out $200 for new "if" theres are still usable
