now the vast majority of the fast car hobby guys get slowly sucked into this hobby when they start talking to their buddies in junior high school or a bit earlier, and when they find out that they can improve a cars performance by swapping a carburetor, intake manifold or as they progress headers and and eventually a cam or cylinder heads etc. they get a few friends over one weekend too swap an intake or a carb, too a high performance version, etc, with a more experienced friend , there to supervise and help and they suddenly realize that not only is their car faster but far more importantly THEY had a hand in improving the car thru their own actions, and it was not nearly as difficult as they once imagined it would be!
A few years pass and their cars noticeably improved , as they learn new skills ,working on what up to this point was basically a fairly stock car with an assortment of bolt on goodies, until they reach the point we all eventually do where they can,t go further with out the help of a machine shop ans some custom tweaks to their car.
Along the way they have acquired some tools and knowledge, (enough to be dangerously un-informed) as to the extent of the mods required and potential cost of doing everything they see, so briefly glossed over in the fast car magazines, and they jump in to projects that require them to ramp up their skill sets and tool acquisitions, this eventually leads to being on a first name basis with at least the local speed shop and machine shop , but usually also leads to the realization that a great deal of their disposable income is going for labor at machine shops and welding projects that they COULD BE DOING THEMSELVES IF THEY HAD ACCESS TO THE TOOLS and some SKILL USING THEM!!
At this point some guys quite, some guys jump in and learn the skills and buy the tools and some guys get a better or second job to pay the machine shops.

well heres a few places Ive linked too that may provide answers to how to fabricate those custom parts you've always wanted to use but few guys can afford, or a need for custom mounts or brackets
