need some input on these heads,

i need to know the advantages of these two heads, from one to the other.

world products s/r torquer...
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WRL-042660-1/

summit brand heads....
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-12558060/

besides the price,i need to know if there is any real performance difference in the two.

my build is as follows...
1988 k1500,5.7l,700R4 tranny,3.73 rear gears.

scat cast steel crank,3.50 stroke

scat 4340 forged rods,5.7 inch

speedpro hyper pistons,4.030 bore.

autozone MTC-1 camshaft,420/442 lift..204*/214* @.050

both heads are basically stock replacement designs that are designed mostly a cheap replacement component, NEITHER is any real performance upgrade from most stock heads and NEITHER, even matches the stock vortec head flow rates , everything's a compromise but don,t scrimp on cylinder heads as they are a critical component that will significantly limit or enhance the engines power potential

yes I know moneys tight, but theres other options that will produce a better cost vs performance value, remember the cylinder heads you select are a HUGE factor in the engines power potential, you could EASILY gain or LOOSE 40-60-80HP in head selection, ESPECIALLY if youve got plans for a larger cam install later.

and keep in mind buying BARE heads on a budget project is rarely a great deal

for what your currently running in a cam, gearing etc. those heads are about perfect, if matched to a decent intake like this

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WND-8502/

ID suggest a slightly larger cam in there 210/210 duration , or a 210-215 duration range on a 110-112 LSA

but as long as your not planing on getting a more aggressive combo later that set of heads will be fine, but keep in mind theres a difference between vortec and standard head port locations and bolt angles

well, its on my k1500.so i trashed the idea on using a carb...everybody said it would be a bad move and all.so i need a good tbi intake.

as far as the cam goes,im just trying to build it for more torque than anything.but i am aiming for around 300+/-hp and 400+ft/lbs.cause that would give me dang near a 100hp and 100ft/lbs increase.plus,i think 400ft/lbs would give me the ability to smoke the tires without having to powerbrake.

could you maybe give me some more ideas and suggestions on a cam?

im also hopeing to get a mpg increase or at least for it to stay the same.i just figured that,it being a freash motor,it wont have to work as hard to push my brick for a truck around, and the fact that im gonna probably using the same sized throttle body....that i should(hope) for mileasge to no get worse.

on top of all this, when would you think it a goood idea to take my truck on a LONG trip....say....1200+/- miles.i just dont want to take it on the highway and something to blow cause i didnt wait long enough.. i figured like 2000 miles on the engine before hand would be good...is that about right?

will that cam have any idle affect?

i dont mind, just was wondering.of course..thats not what my goal is based around(race car sounding idle).

talk to ERSON, it won,t idle perfectly smooth but its hardly a race cam design, its a bit more than stock but nothing even near radical
