Newbie here from Calif.

Mikie here, I am retired so my definition is- if I want, when I want, and if at all I want...LOL. Trying to get all my ducks in a row so I can get the h e ! ! out of Calif. My 68 C10 is in pieces and right now I'm getting tired of it. What PO's have did to it well they have "thoroughly molested" it with any and what ever they could find from the junk yard too keep it a float if you know what I mean. So just trying to find out what I have and do what it takes to get it back right. Sorry have to pee now,LOL

Mikie

OK here we go pics to follow & a little story, not sure how many I can post all at once but I guess I will find out at one point here.
In order I hope. 1st is my house, 2nd is my Son in-law with the notorious OK. "405" gang. 3rd. is my truck 1st day brought home (I have AAA so why not use them) & 4th.-5th.is pretty much what it looks like today.

****** The last 6 pics will be on next post as I now know how many can be posted at once. I'm not going to re type for these last 6 pics on my next post.
6th some of my handy work technique distressing look on the bk bumper & tail gate (not completely done yet). 7th-11th or last 5 pics, 7th how I bought the pov caps (not bad but not what I am looking for finally), 8th. is body (cap) work done, 9th. my distressing technique look of all four caps, 10th. before distressing on painted wheel (not what I am after in looks) 11th. and last is how they will be mounted on my truck. The 10th & 11th pic, the wheel shows a darker shinier gray then it is as the paint is a Epoxy Primer and I'm going to leave it that way. That's my story & I am sticking to it, LOL

That one isn't what is going on my truck, but yes it does look good if I was going to "completely restore" my Truck but that's not what I have in mind for my Truck. Kinda going with the Rat Rod look a little and that's why I distressed the pov caps. Last pic 9th & 11th one shows the final look.

I also will be putting my Grand Fathers Business loge on both my doors with them also being distressed a little. Below is my Grand Father sitting on his 1937 1/2 ton GMC/Chevy and his logo that will be on my doors.

Not really following you on the "Unique, Interesting, or the Typical Crowd"statements? Driving around with a/any Business Logo on your vehicle is done every day and as standing out from the typical crowd maybe you should look around you'll find that the Rat Rods are all over, if that's what you mean/meant. My personal view on putting mass amounts of money in a 50+ yr old truck doesn't make sense to me as what ever you do to it still doesn't change its 50+ yrs old. I do agree that the Safety of it stopping, steering & suspension wise is a MUST 100% needed. just my opinion and my .02, LOL its all good though.

Its NOT meant to be negative, I sure did not mean you too take it that way,
its simply that damn few people have enough pride in the personal family history,
to want too paint the car/truck they own with a family business name, too display it!
the TYPICAL guy, I see locally, puts generic crap like metallic flake flames on some of the rat rods
and leaves some clear coat over rust and calls it good...
that generally shows little thought going into making the car/truck unique, or really personalized

Grumpy no harm no foul, My Grandfather was a Freemason Master Mason from 1943 on and it showed in his Business work ethics and what he built. Two out of his five children followed in his footsteps Freemason's as well with most of his own brothers & sisters and some cousins also. All of his Grandchildren did toe the line and that did make all of us what we became today. So when you used the words "pride in the personal family history" statement yes I am, and proud to have been born too his family tree.

Customize and Build what you want to.
Street Outlaws changed the entire Hotrod world.
Anything goes.
Look at Farm Truck. Runs like a Bat Out of Hell on Fire. Bodywork far from perfect. True Class.

Perfect only means something for Barret Jackson & Mecums.
Looking for the $100,000 - 10 million sale price.

Hello, your right on build what you want. What will be done to my truck will mostly be under its skin (metal wise). The motor & trans and rear end will be ether rebuilt or at least looked at under a microscope and if things need to be replaced so be it. Suspension, chassis, steering and Safety is first most important then making sure every thing does work Oh yeah Comfort inside the cab is also a must- and yes my AM push button stock radio works just fine. The body isn't the straightest but its not bad ether and only needs a little panel replacing done. Its not my goal to have a $100.000 truck that in its self is "Ludicrous" to me. Don't get me wrong they do look nice but somebody will always come along and do this to you, pic below is what happened too us on a Sunday morning drive- Hit & Run deals.20190309_141830.jpeg

Well then, it's settled ....... you are moving to Oklahoma ! ;)

Not in a Million yrs Oklahoma are you crazy, move there where at any time in the windy/stormy season a "Freight Train"....... let me say that again......... a Freight Train" of Wind comes along and wipes you all out that's not my idea of living. For that reason OK and its surrounding States will not be my choice to hang my hat for the rest of my life. Too each his own on that one, not trying to hurt yours or anybody else's feelings for that matter. Just not my cup of tea at all. I have to agree with my other Daughters comment on leaving in Oklahoma her exact words on that is what for it......................Oh H e ! ! NO. I know that's a little too much to unload on a public forum but its my story and I will stick to it, LOL.

we get hurricanes in florida theres earth quakes in california, and absurd taxes in many places, thats what a bit of planing and insurance is for,
if you worry about what might happen , you might want to buy an abandoned minute man missile silo and convert it into a bunker, build on solid high ground,
and think through the location, you need good drainage, access to local utilities and personal services within a reasonable range of driving.
when I built 25 years ago it was a 30 minute drive to a grocery or gas station, I wanted to be rural, and on 5 acres, now its about a 6 minute to either
I purchased the land I wanted to retire on out in the boondocks 50 plus years ago
and only retired and built my home and shop about 20 years ago.
in florida its smart to build on higher ground , and at least 20-25 miles inland from the closest ocean.

I worked on a Auto Restoration shop last year. I was not there too long.
In The Middle Chicago Burbs.
Everyone got ripped off by the owner.
Everyone got charged $100,000 - $250k bill invoices.
Had me painting with cheapest single stage paint made.
No 2 K gun spray mix by me.
Rattle can. I made it look nice near perfect.
Felt real bad for the vehicle owners.

One was a 1970 Chevy C10 pickup.
