putting my steering rack back in I must have moved the lines coming from the pressure modulator to the rear calipers too far, because one of them is leaking now. Is it necessary to replace the whole line, or can I splice a short piece in? Anyone up on this?

if your smart ,you can generally buy preformed or fabricate your own, brake lines,
if you have the correct tools.(fabricating your own is prefered as your more likely to get the length , bends and fittings correct.)
you generally don,t spice or repair brake lines, they leak when the fitting get damaged or flares are improperly made or moisture in brake fluid, causes corrosion.
