First it a 700r4

I been looking at the diffrent shift kits out there Transgo, Superior, B&M Fairbanks.

I had the trans rebuilt but a local shop and it been a nightmare I dont want to send it back there AGAIN so they can have sit out side for anouther month if I sent back that would been the 3rd time not again.

After they rebulit the trans it shifts very soft shiting point are very low, you can feel it slip in to the next higher gear, even if you hold the shifter in 1st gear it will still shift at 3000 RPM's and 4500 in 2 to 3rd ect.

I have a new Govenner that rated for 5200 RPM shifts ready to stick in.

But which shift kit to get Firm shift plus fix the shifting points that you can hold it in a gear shift semi smouth during normal driving when on the gas hard shift firm but not snap you neck doing so.

Help I ready to order one this weekend but which one the trans is should have a corvette servo in it now but the place that did the rebuild who's knows what they did.

Ive had good luck with the TRANSGO kits that use the re-programing plate with the valve body and corvette servo, why not call transgo and discuss the purchase BEFORE ordering any parts or kits a great deal of making the correct choices will depend on your goals and understanding your options, but keep in mind the transmissions converter stall speed and rear gear ratio and which transmission your using all effect your potential results.

I read many other threads and what I gather the transgo is the way to go.

I ordred a transgo 700 SK $62.99 shipped.

I hope this was a good move.

Like I said I don't want a hard shift for everyday driving but when it time to play everyonce in a while a noticable shift will be nice also.

I would highly recommend you by or borrow a 0-300 psi pressure gauge. That's the place to start. If your pressures are all right then unlikely you need to pull the trans out.

Had a B&M kit in my pickup's TH350 for several years, but the shifts were harsh and the 1-2 shift happened way too early, while the 2-3 shift too late. I called the TransGo folks who explained why I was having the problems and how their kit was different. Ended up buying their Reprogramming kit (not the Shift kit) kit from BulkPart.com at http://www.bulkpart.com/. By the way, these guys have zillions of parts and are very inexpensive. I love their brass filters and thick pan gaskets.

Instead of harsh and ill-timed, the shifts were now firm and occurred just when they should. The instructions were also very good with actual photos of parts.

Before doing anything else, CALL TRANSGO.

I not pulling the trans again the Shift kit is not that hard I have done one many moons ago.

Certainly. But one of the reasons for shifting problems - flaring... Could be a drop in pressure. You might see a pressure drop while driving and thanks to the gauge discover you are cavitating. The source could be an oil pick up sucking air.

The pressure gauge will determine the general health of your trans. Some things even a shift kit won't fix.

I've had my 200-4r out 10 times and rebuilt it 3.

I Installed the shift kit this wekend not all that bad of a job I just took my sweet time doing so.

I pulled the pan last weekend so most of the ATF could drain out and about wensday I pulled the Valve body and the other items so they could drain.

This way when I up under the car putting back together it will not be dripping on face Been there done that it sucks.

I spent about 2 hours last night changing out the valve springs ect in the valve body so this morning it just installing everything.

Shifts good lot better than before.

I sure glad for now this just a fun weekend type car that I no big hurry to get done.

I hear you, I hate the crap that falls off most cars while you're working under them.

Sometimes, you just have to do it yourself when you want it done right !

For sure, it's a lot easier when it doesn't HAVE TO RUN the next day!
You should really come back more often, we love problems here.....car problems that is !!!
