sticky calipers dragging

I decided to post here because my 1965 C10 has 1974 C10 brakes and power steering upgraded with aftermarket parts to make the power front disc brakes and power steering conversion completed spring 2011.

I had used the old calipers as cores and got rebuilt calipers at autozone, drove truck a couple of years and it was parked by 2013, got it on road summer 2020, I have been working on swapping out carb for Edelbrock pro flo 4 multi port fuel injection.

Last time I drove truck I heard a sound like brakes are dragging while driving slow in residential neighborhood, looks like it was front passenger, my new rotor looks pretty chewed up.

Would this be a problem because the grease/lube on the caliper sliding area dried, or more of a internal problem?

A friend laughed and said my mistake was putting on autozone parts, I’m thinking sitting all those years probably caused the issue more than anything.

Also I noticed a ball joint boot ripped, I replaced all ball joints and tie rod ends, and bushings in the control arms doing the disc brake power steering swap, kinda stinks it failed already, but will fix that also.

that tends to happen if a car/truck sits , exposed to moisture,
calipers and rotors & caliper pistons rust, if not used and yes,
obviously the extent of the potential resistance to the piston in the caliper/pistons rust/corrosion,varies, generally removing the caliper for close inspection, and soaking the caliper in a good spray down with something like a 50%/50% mix of MMO, and WD 40, and then driving the vehicle backwards and forward repeatedly, may and generally will free the caliper pistons and allow them to back off the rotor in operation.
if thats not enough replace the caliper.
