take the time to read thru this magazine article ,because it does a decent job of pointing out the design restrictions the stock heads, intake and cam are on the basic 350 sbc as a performance engine.
as usual the better aftermarket cam,heads and intake make a big difference, keep in mind if they had used a stroker rotating assembly with a bit more compression , resulting from the larger displacement to build a 383 they would easily add 45-60 more hp to the resulting power curve
