timing too far advanced? or Retarded????

I got the Old Orange Chevy to start. But seems to be very hard to start. Used to pull choke turn key and very little cranking start. now needs choke open, gas pedal on floor and lots of cranking to start. Also with the old block that was in her, I remember the timing advancing as soon as I hooked up the Vacuum advance, now it doesn't move.
 
you might want to disassemble and clean the distributor and clean and oil the weights and install new advance springs
