"hey grumpy? can i weld a cast aluminum accessory bracket with my MIG welder?"

obviously the type of equipment used, the shield gas, and wire, and welder amperage, will have a great deal to do with the answer, theres PULSED MIG welders that do a decent job, and having the bracket pre-heated helps, IVE had decent results TIG welding and GAS WELDING aluminum brackets but don,t currently have an aluminum capable MIG, I use my TIG WELDER for aluminum but ID suggest you talk to the tech guys at a local PROFESSIONAL, miller or LINCOLN dealer welding shop, as they should be able to give you info on whats required, or in some cases you can take the damaged part to a welding shop with a TIG welder
