...to put a high-revving 302 Chevy into. Should be pump gas street car, 3000# or less, 25 years or older (for no CT emissions),
and able to be installed relatively easily (kits preferred). I'm thinking FOX body Mustang/Capri or GM "G" body. What do you guys think?

Well, a non t-top G-body is as light as a Fox body, has more room and handles just as well or better with a better ride and easier to work on, so since I've owned 5 of them and love 'em, I'd go G-body.

Id be looking for a 1964-1980s G body as its much easier to work on, and something like a 1968-72 el camino would be both sporty and easy to work on and has a good aftermarket parts support

Thank you and I agree. I always wanted an early 80s ElCamino. Would you know which of the "G" bodies would be the lightest? Mike.

The lightest are the early production coupes with few options, but my 1980 Grand Am, buckets/console, etc... but with crank windows and ac, had a real Pontiac V8 in it and weighed 3240 lbs as it presented on the scales without my fat butt in it. So none of them are real heavy, and as for being sporty I thought my '78 El Camio SS, My '85 442 and my Grand Am were pretty sporty!

WOW Randy, you're car is beautiful! The 84 (I think) Hurst Olds was really sporty also, but who would bastardize one of those unless it was already trashed.
I'm 45 now and I have been playing with this 302 (not original) of mine for over 25 years and I'm gonna get it in something - even if it kills me. I think gearheads fall into 2 catagories: torque lover or RPM lover. We all know Grumpy is a torque lover. I prefer the RPM. With an RPM motor, I like that the car can appear stock (sleeper) and doesn't need a roll cage, 4 link suspension, wheel tubs, a Ford 9", slicks, etc. to have to handle all the low RPM torque that a long stroke motor has. Remember, we're talking fun-on-the-street car here and I prefer to take off easily, and then nail it and go like a bat out of hell!

That was an '85 442 in the picture, there were 3000 built in '85, lowest production year. But the Grand Am in 1980 was a special model, all came with buckets and console, the suspension was 1" lower in front and 1.5" lower in the rear, had a 4.9 H.O. for what it was worth, special springs, sway bars and Pliacell shocks and there were 1647 built. Very rare car indeed.
