Big bumpers forever in CA :)

Hi everyone, I am Erik, and I live in the (mostly) sunny California Bay Area. I am working on a 1977 Camaro Z28 restomod. I have been working on it for a couple of years on the weekends. It is currently up on a rotisserie getting its last rust patching done. I am going to be installing a RideTech 4 link pretty soon and then dropping it from the rotisserie to start the body work (good times).

I have posted the whole history on YouTube on my channel : https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgMFYtaWHX6m_C6y92X8TdA

I look forward to chatting with you all here. I have tried my hand over a NastyZ28, but those threads are pretty hard to follow. I like the structure in place here.

Welcome Erik!
Funny, I just passed a '77 Z28, white with multi tone Orange stripes for sale outside a new to the neighborhood body shop. Looks like a high mileage survivor, no mods, just $18,000.00.

What's in your plans for the drive train?

Welcome Erik! I like the spider dancing around in your drop off panel patch video!

I've had several 2nd gen F bodies including 74 & 76 big bumper Camaros. Been a member on Nasty for many years but don't go there often. I have a 67 now and the content there is mostly 2nd gen. I do however have a 2nd gen Firebird I'm currently doing an extensive frame off bare metal restoration with upgrades on. Build thread is http://garage.grumpysperformance.com/index.php?threads/the-14-car-performance-therapy-project.10355/

If you're going to use a stock sub frame I'll suggest looking at the various upgrades in that thread. I'm currently putting together packages of pieces and parts for modifying the 2nd gen sub frames. Should be ready to start shipping in about a week.

Hey Erik, I was hoping you would join us! If you care to look my thread is in Engine Combos and Dynometer Database. So what do you think of the site? It has structure like you prefer and your answers will be good ones, from experienced people. My thread is:
Planning a new 383 build that is now going to be a 400
Anyway welcome Erik, hope you enjoy your membership!

Thanks for the warm welcome all! I have a lot of catching up to do on the threads here, that is for sure. Not sure how tagging works here (if it works?) - but @chromebumpers I am planning on putting in a crate LSA eRod (California) with a 6 speed. The rear-end is going to be a Moser M9 with the RideTech 4 link. I already have all the RideTech Level2 coil-over stuff sitting in boxes ready to install :)

Your build is going to gather a lot of attention, especially since you know what you're doing. I had a few 1980 Z28s new in '79 - '80, can't wait to see what it will look like when finished.

Not a problem Erik! When you have a question, it helps some of us old geezers to see the part or area that the question is directed at, so pictures are a plus. I am sure that somewhere in the near future, Indycars(Rick) will post his normal, "This thread sux without pictures!" But, also with us old geezers being kinda sorta visual, we like to see your project car, so a few pictures would be good. Ya know, where it started, where its been, where it is now, stuff like that! I wish you didn't have to build a California car, there are countless people here that could help with building a great engine for your hotrod!

What do you mean by tagging? Adding pictures? Thats under the "upload a file" button to the bottom right of each post. Oh once Grumpy sees you, there will be a lot more info for you to look at and links to go to. Pictures here are saved on the site, so you will always have a back up if you lose a photo.

Guys you should look at his youtube videos and check out the wheels and tires going on that beast. They are slicker than monkey spit!

Hahah - love it. I was not sure where to go next. Is this the start of the build thread? Or does that go somewhere else? @busterrm - that was a tag. Where I use your name and it generates a hyperlink. Not sure about this site, but in general it is used to send an alert to that person that you mentioned them. On forums, you typically get notified whenever the post is updated, so it does not really matter.

Ok, since you asked :)

Then it went up on the rotisserie

I have since stripped all the outside paint, and mostly finished the rust repairs on the floor and trunk pans.

As a teaser, this is the paint scheme I am looking at. This is quite the bastardization : Ford Ruby Red and 1974 Z28 stripes on a 1977 Z28 :)

And the wheels Bob mentioned :)

depends on what your working on on the car, different sections. I am a simpleton myself, all the work on my nova is in my engine thread. This is your intro thread. Look through the different sections and decide on a place to put your thread.

Good choice for a Red, OE Chevy colors in the mid to late 70's sucked. I like the Gold and Black decal kit for 74. It must be rare, only in a coffee table book just Camaros.
Nice to see chrome is not dead, I never cared for blacked out wheels and ridiculously huge rims with 1 1/2" of sidewall.
