Disappointed with new brake calipers...

Mother F!!!!

Pressure switch does not work. (ground is good... I hear vibrating in switch when connected)

The relay is clicking like R2D2 having an epileptic fit. I pulled the switch and checked it with a DMM... There's a problem. Will call summit to see if they can replace it.

Gotta LOVE Summit. No questions asked... They saw where I was, understood that the pump was already bolted in, the called up the manufacturer. They are shipping direct a new vacuum switch. Summit is GREAT!!!!

yes! Ive had good results also, I once purchased a set of pistons and rings and, called them up when the package of rings was missing one compression ring, (now Id bet most places would just suspect anyone calling them to tell them that had broken a ring and was using that as an excuse) and the fact I called them within a few minutes of the package being delivered helped I,m sure, but they shipped me a replacement ring (over night!)

well, what are you waiting for?
put it on and drive it and let us know how the mods worked!
we ALL want to hear that your brakes work as well as, or even better than the engine accelerates the car

....btw wear your seat belts it might surprise you!

There is another stapler in the picture, I swear he must use that to attach everything to the car! Must be some high performance staples that I'm not aware of. With his methods shouldn't take but 5 minutes to do the install. :D

Oh, yeah... first thing tomorrow morning I am on this.

Just need to get my son to pump the pedal...

DorianL,
You know I'm just giving you a hard time.....right??? Normally I would expect some grieve in return! Maybe it's just a american thing.

I think all of us realize its a bit easier to suggest some parts installed than to actually go thru the process, as every hot rodder soon learns.....

"everything costs about three times as much as you think it will going into any modification, and it normally takes 2-3 times longer to do it correctly, than you thought it would"[/color]

A little duct tape, a few more staples, a dash of Superglue...

Grmbl. Too dark to bleed brakes.

At the very least it was time to change the oil.

Soooo, is there a difference? Yes! Is it as good as I want it? No! But maybe it will be!

Bled the brakes and took it for a spin. I am glad that i replaced the DOT 3 as well.

I'll start by saying this... The difference is big! The ride feels much safer now. However, these pads seem to work better after being heated up. They like lots of heat and work noticably better like so. When heated up, I can lock up all tires when really mashing the brake pedal. (Note: it was wet outside.) When cooler, it is not as easy.

It brakes straight.

For the moment, I am only pulling 10 inches at idle... So maybe when i get the vacuum switch in there, the last bit of pedal travel will be easier?

Would I go down to 15/16 hmmmm, good question. Possibly. If the system is not where I want it to be with an operational vacuum pump, I might. The pedal does travel further down tho, so a 15/16 might be close to bottoming out. As it is, the system is not peaky and braking comes on predictably.

Will test more when road dries up a bit.

D.

Good to hear your moving in the right direction with your brakes! Thanks for getting back with your results, we all learn when we get the whole story!

Update:

I tried it on dry pavement, clearly much better. Brakes, although requiring effort, are predictable and will lock up. It will now come to a screeching halt. And the engine will stall ;)

I think once the vacuum pump is up and running, it should be where I want it.

And again... Works significantly better when warmed up.

D.

I'm still on the fence regarding the 1-inch vs 15/16. I think both would work. Hmmm, I might try out the 15/16 just to see, but after I get the vacuum pump in there.
