Original 1957-'58 Pontiac 9.3 Axle Shafts Meet EvapoRust Remover Today

A trick of the trade shown to me, take a good plastic trash bag (33 gal). Pour in 1/3 gal of Evaporust and carefully put in your chrome trim or steel parts and seal the bag. Put it in a sunny place or a warm spot check in a few days. Condensation will collect on the parts and in time work the same as if the parts were submersed. The drawback is time. This method is done when you are not in any hurry and you need to recheck periodically. You use less solution, the solution is cleaner in the bag. When parts are clean you can spray with windex or any ammonia/water based cleaner and wipe clean - the solution stays clean longer.
Try more outside when it warms up again Richard .
Cooled off today again, blustery cold.
Did drive my 1963 GP this morning. A good wash off top & bottom. Make it nice for the 1965 Olds 425 Engine swap.

Flash rust formed immediately after a soap and water rinse.
Keep experimentating.
I will lightly paint when done.

Direction # 6 on the Evaporate-Rust says to avoid flash rusting - redip the item back into the solution and let air dry.
Some factors promote flash rusting - Rince water from an inline water softener.
Too much degreaser in solution either from being on the parts or was added.

If your not painting a machine bare metal surface, a good spray down, with this spray and rub in with a synthetic bristle brush, as you heat the metal with a heat gun, immediately after cleaning helps

That's the way I would go - you can use adhesion promoter too, it stops rust flash too
