TBucket 200-4R Transmission Project

Maybe I should not have used the Primer/Activator ???

It only reaches 75 percent of full strength. But why does the red curve only go to 60%, doesn't
make sense.

Red Loctite is what I used on mine.
I have a Fastenal down the street. I can check on Monday.

Meanwhile, I will look in my supply to see if I have one.

Now that I think about it, a nut will prevent the filter from sealing to the adapter.
Edit: I see now - you just want to use the nut as a way of tightening the filter nipple without having to bugger those threads with Channel-locks.
Red Loctite is the solution. Clean parts with no primer required.

The jam nuts on suspension parts like panhard bars and the like are 3/4-16.
Yaw, everything I have is 3/4 inch or less. No need to worry anymore, it's in and the filter is installed. If it
comes out in the filter, should be no problem to unscrew it and put it back in the remote housing.

yeah, thats not likely to be an issue, but the big question of course,
is..... is everything properly adjusted and connected and are the fluid levels and cooling lines,
gear shifter and drive train connections correctly connected and checked?
if they are, does the car start, idle shift and drive now?

Battery is charged.
Remote filter is full of fluid and installed.
Pressure gauge is connected and ready.
TV is connected and set for startup.
Filling the trans with fluid now for the initial startup on stands.

And one nervous owner!!!

You are too old to be nervous about anything other tan a backfire/fire. You have been doing this for too long the right way to worry. When it fires up, jump for joy and go enjoy it the way you intended. Pedal to the metal balls out with the wind blowing in your face and a big grin will make life much happier. Good luck!!

All looks good on the stands.
Adding more fluid after running thru all the gears.
Timing light is connected and ready to verify ignition timing.
No fluid leaks in the trans remote filter and cooler.

so far so good as they say....
congrats on accomplishing the trans rebuild,
that alone places your skills far ..FAR, above average!
obviously you want to verify the trans fluid level,
throttle and trans linkage and fluid and engine coolant connections,
before you start that engine.

now take the t-bucket around the block a few times,
try not to go more than a 1/4 mile from the house the first few laps...
just in case... (as my late father used to suggest...) "
never take a newly rebuilt engine and drive train out further from the house,
than you'll be comfortable walking home from until,
its got at least 45 minutes run time circling the block"
if theres no issues of course and all the gauges read in the intended range well,
its a good indication youll be fine.
no mater how many times you get into a project, start it up and drive the first few minutes.
theres always a nagging doubt, you might have forgotten to do some adjustment,
thats what a shake-down cruise is for...
locating the potential issues and correcting then if they show up.

It's on the ground and I've driven it 2-3 miles around the neighborhood never getting more than 1/2 mile
from home. The shifts feel good, no different than before. Not sure about the 3-4 shift, I can't tell until my
speeds get above 50 mph. Also I have not engaged the Lockup Torque Converter switch to see if that is still
functioning. Hopefully it was far enough from the heat and was never used during the problem days.

Yippeee!!!
T-Test was right !!!

1 more item - a big a$$ fan blowing on that cooler.

Rick, on my 2003 Toyota Camry I installed a remote oil filter in the transmission oil cooler line.
Right now the filter is wrapped with one of those oil absorbent pads because I have a nuisance leak there.
I believe the fluid is blowing past the base gasket on the filter. The fittings are installed with Red Loctite.
I have to check again to see if it is still doing it.
I don't know if there is a huge difference in line pressures between your transmission and mine.
Just don't be surprised to find a film of fluid there. On a positive note, I also have the same installed in my
84 TA and that never leaked.

BTW - I found a 3/4-16 nut last night.
Glad you're back on the road. SUCCESS !!!

I would not beat the crap out of that 200R4.
It went perfectly smooth on my 106 miles round trip tonight for a burger tonight .... perfect !!!

I don't beat the crap out of my equipment, I take care of it !!!!!!!!

Brain, don't beat the crap out of your equipment, it will NOT last longer, even a th400 does not last forever. Someday it
will fail just like everything else with your car does eventually. Even a TH400 can't take it forever .... right ???

You and Top Fuel are like nick and nack, they don't finish every race.

Have a wonderful night !!!

AWESOME !!!!!

I do love that trans. I think more than I miss the power of the TT, I miss that trans !

106 miles were a breeze, I bet. I remember once driving 700 miles up and then back again non-stop with the TT (to Bavaria). It was amazingly comfortable
